About Hair Transplant For Women

What is a female hair transplant?

A FUE Hair transplant can give you a fuller, natural-looking hairs that you can style any way you like. Using Sapphire FUE  techniques, it involves taking small groups of hair follicles from a donor area on your scalp and placing them into thinner and/or empty areas of your scalp.

Whether you’re aiming for a dense beard or a neatly groomed stubble, a beard transplant can help you achieve your ideal facial hair.

How does a FUE Hair Transplant work?

Preparation

First, the beard area and donor sites are numbed with a Needleless local anesthetic after numbness spread using injections to effect wider areas, and you’ll be given a sedative to ensure a comfortable experience.
01

Harvesting

The surgeon then removes small groups of hair follicles from the donor area. With an FUE procedure, a micro punch is used to extract these follicles, leaving tiny wounds that heal quickly and without noticeable scarring.
02

Implantation

Once the grafts are ready, the surgeon creates small openings in the patchy beard areas and carefully inserts each follicle cluster. Each graft is positioned to follow your natural hairline, ensuring a seamless, natural-looking result.
03

Do you need to shave your hairs?

For women undergoing follicular unit extraction (FUE), we typically recommend a small shaving technique for procedures requiring up to 1,500 grafts.

This involves discreetly shaving a 2cm x 6cm area at the back of the head. Once your hair is let down, the shaved area is entirely hidden, ensuring no visible signs of the procedure.

How about unshaven technique

For those seeking an unshaven technique, this option is available; however, it is more time-intensive and is generally recommended for smaller procedures involving up to 750–1,000 grafts.

Our goal is to provide a solution that balances efficiency and discretion, with minimal impact on your daily life. Hair extensions are also a great option to temporarily cover the donor area as your hair regrows naturally.

How does a FUE Hair Transplant work?

01

Consultation:

The women’s hair transplant process begins with a detailed consultation with a specialist doctor. During this consultation, the patient’s type of hair loss, medical history, and expectations are evaluated. The areas needing transplantation are determined, and the number of grafts (hair follicles) required is calculated.
02

Donor Area Selection:

The back or sides of the head are usually chosen as the donor area. Hair follicles from these areas are genetically resistant to shedding and grow healthily in the transplanted area.
03

Graft Extraction:

Hair follicles are individually extracted from the donor area using the FUE or DHI technique. In the FUE technique, hair follicles are extracted using micromotor devices, while in the DHI technique, special pens are used. Both methods are minimally invasive, leaving no scars in the donor area and offering a quick recovery process.
04

Graft Placement:

The extracted hair follicles are carefully placed in the predetermined areas. At this stage, the angle and direction of the follicles are crucial for achieving a natural appearance. The procedure is usually performed under local anaesthesia and takes several hours.
05

Recovery Process:

After the hair transplant, there may be slight redness and scabbing in the transplanted area. These symptoms usually subside within a few days. New hair begins to grow gradually in the first few weeks. Full results typically appear between 6 to 12 months.

Who is Suitable for Hair Transplant for Women?

Hair transplant for women is suitable for women experiencing hair loss who have a healthy and sufficient donor area. It is also important that the person seeking a hair transplant is in good general health. Chronic diseases, bleeding disorders, or active infections can negatively affect the transplant process.

Surgery duration depends on how many hair grafts you need. Higher graft numbers take longer to harvest and implant, so you’ll be in the chair for longer.  For most women, the procedure takes less than a day (usually around 4-7 hours).

Recovery from surgery takes anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. FUE patients usually recover more quickly than FUT patients, but in both instances you’ll need to take some time off work, and take it easy for a few days after the procedure.

When you’re feeling better, you can go back to work, but you may still need to avoid vigorous exercise for a while. Find out everything you should know about hair transplant recovery.
