Mr Chitale is a urological surgeon and medical educator with more than three decades of operative, research and teaching experience. Now an honorary associate professor at UCL Medical School, he has performed over 30 000 urological procedures, published 100+ peer-reviewed papers and delivered upwards of 65 national and international presentations. His landmark achievements include leading the first randomised controlled trial of shock-wave therapy for Peyronie’s disease and co-investigating pivotal endourology stent studies.
Formerly an honorary senior lecturer at the University of East Anglia and site lead for undergraduate teaching at Whittington Health, he continues to mentor medical students and junior doctors, serve on ARCP and Core Surgical Training interview panels and teach on operative-skills and CCrISP faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons. Recognised by UCL Medical School as Top Teacher (2014) and by the Excellence in Medical Education Awards (2016), he remains an active reviewer for more than twenty journals and sits on editorial boards for BMJ Case Reports and TOUNJ.
